Over
the past twenty years, my work has evolved as I have evolved.
My current works are contemporary paintings, multi-layered,
embracing the ideas of texture, materiality and the beauty of
space. Carrying a sense of time and process, they are evocative
of other forms, but complete within themselves. The use of modular
forms allows the creation of new space, the relationship to
each other and their environment. Use of the grid has been integral
in the making of many of the paintings, a work process providing
an all over system and deductive structure.

Pigments
and surfaces move through traditional styles of abstraction to
references of urban walls in some pieces, the sheen of metallic
surfaces working as an abstract contrast to flat surfaces in some
pieces and replicating tarnished metal plates in others. Materials
often include, among other elements, acrylic, encaustic, oils,
silver leaf and papers. Works are on stretched canvas mounted
on masonite on stretchers. Sizes range from 5" to 6' and
beyond.
